On the 22nd of November 2021, the Government announced that from 2022 new homes and buildings such as supermarkets and workplaces, as well as those undergoing a major renovation, will be required to install electric vehicle (EV) charge points.

Haringey Council is striving to deliver an increase in the number of EVs used by businesses and residents who need cars.

Joe Baker is the Head of Carbon Management and the lead on Climate Change at Haringey Council. They work across the council leadership team to successfully deliver carbon reduction policies and projects. Within their team, they now lead on low carbon transport, including active travel, and the electric vehicle’s strategy.

In this session from the Local Government Climate Action Conference 2021, Joe outlined the aims of the Haringey Council in making the move to EVs. They shared their marketing strategy and how they are informing residents of the changes that they should notice in their area regarding charging infrastructure.
