Implementing the Housing First Pilot Scheme Nationwide
In 2019, the UK Government pledged £28 million to launch 3 Housing First Pilots as part of a strategy to end rough sleeping by 2027. Mike Hughes, Project Manager of Greater Manchester Housing First, shared with us how the Housing First Pilot has been able to rehouse over 300 people who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
In conversation: Supporting Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children
In 2020 around 43% of those seeking asylum in the UK were women and children. Of these, 8% were children who arrived in the country without a parent or guardian. We spoke to Coventry City Council, about they are working with local partners to provide more holistic care for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
Voluntary Sector Leadership: Digital Innovation and Partnership Working
With cases of domestic abuse rising during the pandemic, charities have been working hard to support victims, and prevent abuse occurring again. Sally Steadman-South from SafeLives and Libby Drew from On Our Radar worked collaboratively to create new projects that respond to the impact of the pandemic, seeking to supporting vulnerable women and girls.
